Herman is my 3rd great grandfather
Herman Fredrec Nachtigall was born in Neukirchen Kreis Osterberg, Germany on September 30, 1866 to August F. (1833-1890) and Charlotte Sophia Elizabeth Kober (1839-1927). Herman was the third child born to the couple:
- Carl Christian Charles (1862-1924)
- August B. (1864-1948)
- Armand (1868-?)
- Otto Frederick (1869-1949)
- Charlotte (1872-1937)
- William (1872-?)
- Louise B. (1874-1874)
- Albert Carl (1876-1941)
- Maria H. (1878-1901)
There are discrepancies in the year Herman arrived in the states. According to the 1900 and 1910 census, Herman arrived in 1874 but the 1910 lists 1875 and the 1930's census has 1880. Herman married Clara Wilhelmina Quist (1873-1926) on October 7, 1896 in Sycamore, Illinois. Herman and Charlotte had six children:
- John August (1897-1962)
- Fredrick Hermann (1902-1966)
- Alice Charlotte (1903-1960)
- Albert Frank (1905-1955)
- Edith Sophia (1907-2000)
- Charlotte Marie (1908-1958) - my great grandmother.
