52 Ancestors 2015 Week #4 - Joseph Willard McKee

I received an e-mail this past week that two of the ancestors I had profiled during 2014 were not even my relatives!  Week 39's Amos Garth NormanWeek 43's Estella Emma Goewey who I had thought were parents to my 2nd great grandmother I profiled in Week 3, Ada Viola Norman.  Turns out that their daughter named Alta Viola never married or had any children.  This also means that I do not have birth or death information for Ada Viola (or possibly Adeline).

Anyway, this week's theme from No Story to Small is an ancestor with the closest birthday to yours.  The closest I could find is Joseph Willard McKee, my 2nd cousin 3x removed.

Joseph Willard McKee was born on 26 Oct 1908 in Missouri to Elia Arthur McKee (1882-1968) and Georgiana Carrico (1887-1960).  Joseph was the oldest of six children:

  • Arthur Harold (1911-1982)
  • Elia Carl (1911-1988)
  • Paulina Georgiana (1915-1991)
  • Warren Gamaliel (1920-2013)
  • Clifford John Calvin (1925-1958)
Joseph married Gladys Mae Lawrence (1909-1962) on 27 Apr 1927.  They would have four children:

  • Betty Lou (1927-2008)
  • Mary Jo (1930-1933)
  • Don Willard (1933-2007)
  • Barbara Ann (1937-1938)
Joseph died on 13 Sep 1989 at age 80.  Joseph is buried at Pottersville Cemetery in Pottersville, Missouri.

52 Ancestors 2015 Week #3 - Catherine Miller

Catherine is my 4th great grandmother

Catherine Miller was born on 26 Nov 1811 in Plainfield, Pennsylvania to Henry Miller (1784-?) and Susanna (1786-?).  Catherine was the third child of seven:

  • Abraham (1809-?)
  • Daniel (1810-?)
  • Benjamine (1814-?)
  • Henry (1816-?)
  • George (1823-?)
  • Sarah (1824-?)
Catherine married Charles George Keller (1816-1878) on 31 Jan 1836.  They had ten children:

  • Elizabeth Sarah (1834-1911)
  • Lucy Ann (1836-1873)
  • Benjamin Franklin (1838-1863)
  • Sarah (1839-1918)
  • Jacob E. (my 3rd great grandfather; 1843-1931)
  • Phoebe Alice (1846-1934)
  • Caroline (1848-1922)
  • Rebecca M. (1852-1919)
  • Frances (1854-1935)
  • James (1863-1929)
I have little information on Catherine's wherabouts until 1880 when she appears in the federal census living in Spring Grove, Wisconsin.  In January 1906, Catherine took a fall and moved in with her daughter, Sarah.  The following year in April she moved in with daughter, Caroline.  Catherine died on 17 Dec 1907 at age 96.  Catherine is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Brodhead, Wisconsin.

52 Ancestors 2015 Week #2 - King Rudolf of France

This week's theme was King, partly because of Elvis and Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthdays.  I am choosing an actual member of royalty for this week.  King Rudolf of France, who was my 33rd Great Grand Uncle.

King Rudolf was born about 890, he is also referred to Rudolf of France.  Other possible spellings of his name are Radulf, Ralph, and Raoul.  Rudolf's parents are Duke Richard de Bourgogne (860-898) and Adelaida of Auxerre (860-929).

Rudolf had two siblings:

  • Sporta de Bourgogne (my 33rd great grandmother; 880-?)
  • Duke Hugh the Black de Bourgogne (dates unknown)
Rudolf married Emma of France (894-935) in 921.  Emma was the daughter of Robert I of France.  Rudolph was elected King of West Francia in 923 succeeding his father-in-law.  Rudolph's coronation was on 13 Jul 923.  Rudolph's title of Duke of Bougogne passed to his brother Hugh the Black.

Rudolf and Emma had one child named Louis and possibly a daughter named Judith.  Emma would die 02 Nov 934 during a military campaign.  Rudolph fell ill and died on 14/15 Jan 936 at age 45 or 46.

52 Ancestors 2015 Week #1 - Charlotte Loose

Charlotte is my 4th great grandmother.

This year part of the challenge involves picking an optional theme for the week.  This week's theme is fresh start.

Charlotte Loose was born on 07 Jul 1807 in Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany.  Charlotte is another dead end relative for me as I do not know either of her parents names or information.   Sometime around 1824, Charlotte married Frederick Augustus Kober II (1796-1851).  They had ten children together:
Frederick died on 03 Mar 1851 in Dropsy, Germany.  Sometime after this Charlotte and her children would begin moving to the US.  Charlotte's daughter Charlotte would move in 1874 with her husband.  Charlotte died on 23 Nov 1879 at age 72 in Wheaton, Illinois.
