52 Ancestors Challenge Week #30 - Augistine Haldga

This is my 3rd great grandmother.

This was in a bit of a mystery since I had an entirely different name for her just a few months ago.  I originally had her name as just Anna Christina, it wasn't until I came across her son Erick Andrew Carlson's death information on the Illinois, Death, and Stillbirths Index that listed his mother's name as Augistine Haldga.

So Augistine is a brick wall in my search.  I have that she was born in Finland but I don't know when and I do not know her parents names.  What I do know is that she married Carl Eric Gullens.  They had five children:

Their children would take the last name Carlson upon their arrivals in the US.

I also have no death date information for Augistine.

52 Ancestors Challenge Week #29 - Basil Jordan Carrico

Basil is my 3rd great grandfather.

Basil Jordan Carrico was born on December 14, 1848 in Pottersville, Missouri to Josiah (1803-1873) and Jane Williams (1810-1882).  Basil was the youngest of eight.
  • Elizabeth L. (1829-?)
  • John R. (1832-1864)
  • Nancy Ann (1833-1901)
  • Josephus Cyrus (1837-1908)
  • Isaac Owen (1842-1864)
  • Mary Jane or Mary Ann (1844-?)
  • Martha Ann (1846-1921).
Basil married Mary Jane White on April 17, 1869.  Mary Jane would die the following year during childbirth.  I do not know if that child survived.  Basil would remarry that same year to Margaret Susan Riley (1852-1940) on August 31, 1870.  Basil and Margaret would have six children:
Basil has one of those names that I have seen have several variations of spelling.  I use the spelling used on his head stone.  Some other variations are Bazzil, Bazil, Bazzel.  Basil primarily lived in Arkansas throughout his life but according to the 1920 census he and Margaret had moved to Appleglen, Arizona.  Basil passed on September 10, 1926 at age 77.  Basil is buried at Wann Cemetery in Beaty, Arizona.

52 Ancestors Challenge Week #27 - Mitchell Sanders

Mitchell is my 2nd great grandfather.

Unfortunately I know very little about Mitchell Sanders.  Mitchell is a major brick wall in my family research.  What I do know is that Mitchell married Parthenia Adaline Mitchell (1879-1966)  and they had three children:
I have Mitchell passing away sometime before 1920.

52 Ancestors Challenge Week #26 - John Nelen

Already at the half way point with Ancestor #26.  John is my 2nd great grandfather.

John Nelen was born about 1857 in Wisconsin to John Nelen (1825-?) and Alice (1823-?).  John had two known siblings:

  • Thomas (1860-?)
  • Mary (1860-1926)

John married Mary Jane O'Rourke (1870-1930) in 1899.  John lived mostly in Spring Valley, Wisconsin (1900-1940 censuses).  John and Mary Jane had two children:

  • George (1901-1985)
  • Alice Mabel (1905-1988) my great grandmother

John died after 1940 but I do not have an exact date.
