Josephus Cyrus Carrico was born in Carlisle, Indiana on 02 Dec 1837 to Josiah Carrico (1803-1871) and Jane Williams (1810-1882). The fourth of eight children.
Josephus married Martha Ann Tabor (b. 19 Feb 1846, d. 14 Jan 1916), daughter of Andrew and Ruhany, on 15 Dec 1867 in Howard County, Missouri. They had eleven children:

Josephus died on 07 Jun 1908 at age 70. Josephus is buried at Pottersville Cemetery in Pottersville, Missouri.
