Charlotte is my 3rd great grandmother.

Charlotte Sophia Elizabeth Kober was born on July 16, 1839 in Neukirchen Kreis Osterberg, Germany (then known as Prussia) to Frederick Augustus Kober (1796-1851) and Charlotte Loose (1807-1879).  Charlotte was the sixth child of nine:
  • Frederick Augustus III (1825-?)
  • Marie (1827-?)
  • John Gottfried (1832-1836)
  • Christopher Heinrich (1834-?)
  • Ludwig John Henry Herman (1836-1892)
  • Unknown Son (1842-?)
  • August Frederick (1834-1917)
  • Elizabeth Wilheminia Johanna (1846-1912)
  • Henrietta Wilhemia Dorothea (1848-1932)
Charlotte married August F. Nachtigall (1833-1890) on August 25, 1859 in Germany.  They had nine children before coming to the states.
Charlotte and August departed Germany on April 9, 1874 and arrived in New York on April 24, 1874 according to the Hamburg and New York Passenger Lists.  Once in the states Charlotte and August had two more children:
Charlotte and August made their home in Milton, Illinois according to the 1880 Federal Census.  Charlotte would eventually settle in Wheaton, Illinois according to the 1920 Federal Census.

Charlotte died on July 15, 1927 at age 87.  Charlotte is buried at the Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.

Charlotte's son, Herman's death certificate lists his mother's last name as Kahr.
